
Huchuy Qosqo complex lies perched over the Sacred Valley of the Incas and after Pisac and Ollantaytambo, It is the largest Inca archaeological centre of the Valley.
Its construction is earlier than Pisac and Ollantaytambo, since it was built by the Inca Trail Peru. When the Chancas, the Incas rival people threaten Cusco in 1438, The Inca abandons the capital and took refuge in this Palace, Huchuy Qosqo.
During the Spanish conquest, Gonzalo Pizarro found on the site of Huchuy Qosqo an Inca Mummy and ordered to burn it. The descendants of the Inca recovered the ashes, and retained it in a ballot box that was discovered in the years after.
