Level of Difficulty – Explanation
For all treks we have given a level of difficulty. These levels are relative between the several treks, and are clearly not as hard as described for all clients. It depends for a great deal of physical shape but also of the time taken to acclimatize to the altitude and mental attitude. Being in Cusco since months or having arrived just the day before the trekking certainly makes a difference.
Not one trek is really easy, perhaps only for the really top fit ones. Therefore we have named the least difficult treks Normal, not easy.
Normal.
These treks are doable for everyone having no problems with walking or other health problems. For the not very active people these treks are still doable but can be heavy. The best thing to do is to take it slow and take enough time to rest en eat well. For the really fit ones these treks can be a bit easy, but never underestimate these, for over rushing upwards can ‘blow up' your muscles and downwards can overload your knees. The ‘normal' ones are usually the shorter treks.
Middle.
For people with a good physical shape, these treks are well doable. For the less active and less physical shaped, these treks can be quite hard and may need some training in advance and need good acclimatising. For the top fit ones these treks can still be a bit easy, but these treks last more days or are just really steep and therefore also need a positive attitude and no over rushing.
Difficult.
These treks are the longer treks and therefore a good physical health is needed and also trekking experience is a pro. For the not active and less physical shaped, these treks are not recommendable. For the average and well shaped ones these treks can still be difficult, partly depending on the mental attitude. For the top fit ones these treks are good challenges.
