The chain of the Ausangate is situated in the Cordillera Vilcanota in the department of Cusco. It is one of the most remote high Andean zones of Peru. It offers a spectacular trekking circuit between snow peaks, lagoons, ice caverns, thermal waters and a culture of thousands of years living under the Inca Mountain.
Program
1st Day - Cusco - Mallma - Singrena cocha (3350/10991 - 3900/12795 - 4200/13780 meters/feet)
Early in the morning we will take our private transport to Mallma (3900/12795f) situated southeast of Cusco.
During the walk we will observe beautiful natural scenery when we are passing high Andean plateaus. The presence of mountains, lagoons and rivers makes it unimaginable scenery... Arriving in Mallma, we will take a fresh walk of about 2 hours, during which we will enjoy the spectacular view on the Qallangati Mountain that borders to our camping site called Singrena cocha lagoon (4200m/13780f).
Transportation time 7 hours, walking time 2 hours, lunch and dinner included.
2nd Day - Singrena cocha - Tarapata Pass - Añasñiyucpampa (4200/13780 - 4600/15092 - 4200 meters/feet)
The sunrise over the Cordillera Vilcanota is very spectacular, with the scenery of glaciers, lagoons etc. around us. In spite of being high in the Andes, some flowers and plants knew to develop, such as the Andean Cactus. Also Camelids, Chinchillins, the Condor and the Puma live here. We will ascent to the Tarapata Pass (4600m/15092f), after it to continue going through different altitude levels to the Añasñiyucpampa Valley (4200m/13780f), our camping place.

3rd Day - Añasñiyucpampa - Pupusayoc Pass - Pacchanta (4200/13780 - 4900/16076 - 4300/14108 meters/feet)
The sunrise will give us some fine moments during the walk to the Pupusayoc Pass (4900m/16076f). We will have view at the glaciers Callangati and Ausangate in a colorful scene with some villages down in the valleys. After it we will easily descend to the community of Pacchanta (4300m/14108f), where we will enjoy the thermal waters. In the night we will have a festivity and will taste a typical dinner of the region known as Pachamanca.
Hiking time 6 hours, included breakfast, lunch and dinner.
4th Day - Pacchanta - Tinqui - Cusco (4300/14108 - 3850/12631 meters/feet)
In the morning we will head for the Tinqui ranch (3850m/12631f). During the walk we will see the living culture of the farmers in the glacier chain called Cinaqara. The village of Tinqui will be the place from which we will take our transport back to Cusco.
Hiking time 3 hours, transportation time 6 hours, breakfast and lunch included.
What one needs to bring
Backpack, sleeping bag, clothing for warm and cold climate like a waterproof jacket, sweater, trekking shoes and trousers, polo's/ t-shirts, rainponcho, hat, sun block cream, insect repellent and disinfecting alcohol and gel, bottle of water and sterilizing tablet, fotocamera (wrapped in plastic bag), flash light and batteries, some snacks like chocolate bars and dry fruit, original passport, ´ISIC´-student card and extra money in soles.
