Our guides, cooks, porters and horsemen

The Guides

The majority are local guides who feel the band with their ancestors who have developed the Peruvian history in such a complex and unimaginable way... We have a committed and professional team and present our culture in one of the following languages you prefer: English, French, German, Italian, Quechua and of course Spanish.

The Cooks

They are authorized to enter the Inca Trails and are indispensable for all our expeditions. In some cases they prepare the food above 4000 meter / 13000 feet, not an easy job. Their good work is being rewarded by giving them a special day every year on which they receive an advanced course in improving their knowledge in Andean food and cooking art.

The Porters

The porters are a very important part of our job. Without them it would not be possible to offer the treks. In the beginning they were very underpaid and carried an unhealthy amount of kilos. The situation began to change at the beginning of the Project in 2002, with the restructuring and protection for the well-being and the stability of the porters by governmental laws. In addition the information campaign about the environmental impact started to show results. Both are important in the mentality change, to conserve our culture.

However last years perhaps the federation of the porters has been politically managing in a way that will not help the good image of them. Because of this problem X-treme Tourbulencia found it more convenient to cooperate with our countrymen from some communities like Accha (Cusco). These cooperators are committed in helping us during the high-season of 2007. Because of this we also feel committed to do some charity work for them.

Horsemen

The work of the horsemen is very important in the mountains. They own the charge animals and live in or near the mountains of the popular routes. It is a rule that the horsemen only work in the region where they live. They are very important for the transport of our camping equipment.
